“Malena Muyala interprets tango in a unique and original way allowing her to avoid the clichés of traditional singers. Her privileged tone of voice tends to hypnotize its listeners…“

Intense, with an captivating stage presence and fascinating timbre. The internationally acclaimed artist takes us with her very own style and shear sensitivity into the world of music of the Rio de la Plata. Malena Muyala‘s repertoire includes Tango lyrics sounding particularly melancholic, taking them into today's world and in the process letting them gain in intensity, expressiveness and emotion. Her original compositions, poetic and atmospherically dense, are in the tradition of great songwriters, taking their own turn when the charismatic singer and her band perform live. Malena Muyala’s new album “Temporal” exclusively presents her own original compositions. With her distinctive voice, she tells stories from her childhood, shares life experiences, and carries her listeners off to faraway places. Her fascinating and moving interplay of lyrics and music – the latter especially inspired by tango, Milongón and Candombe – distinguishes and sets her apart as a songwriter. The album was produced by Gustavo “Popi” Spatocco, the arranger and pianist ofthe unforgettable Mercedes Sosa, who also produced her last work “Cantora”.
All of Malena Muyala‘s works ("Temas Pendientes“ 1998/2011. "Puro Verso“ 2000. "Viajera" 2007) have won Gold and Platinum Records. Her first DVD ("Malena Muyala at the Solìs" 2009), recorded live in Uruguay´s main theater, has also been awarded Platinum. Malena was granted the Graffiti Award (Uruguay Music Award) for the best tango Album and the International "Cubadisco Award" for her latest work , "Pebeta de mi Barrio" in 2012. She is the first woman in Uruguayan music to be awarded "Woman of the Year" and "Outstanding young person“ as well as other national distinctions.
Malena Muyala officially represented her country in the celebrations which took place when tango was recognized as "Intangible World Heritage of Humanity", both in Uruguay and Argentina. Some of Malena´s activities have been recognized by UN and UNESCO.
